The grandeur of the Capitol dome, family fun on City Island, and the world-class elegance of our B&Bs and restaurants---that's what you'll find in our Commonwealth's uncommon capital city. Art lovers especially appreciate the city's many fine galleries; outdoorsy types love the fun to be had along the banks of the mighty Susquehanna. But it's our downtown that really sparkles. Theatre, nightlife, shopping, and more draw sophisticated crowds from all over the world. If you're more interested in the countryside, our farms and villages are just a short drive away. And if you visit in January, you absolutely can't miss the Pennsylvania Farm Show, famous as the largest agricultural event in the United States.
In the midst of the Susquehanna River lies City Island---63 acres of fun for the whole family. Take in a Harrisburg Senators AA ballgame, attend a music festival, ride the carousel, or just relax on the beach. Miniature golf, batting cages, picnic pavilions, and more make this an ideal place to spend a day or two.
